How to backup or restore email using MSN Explorer software?

 When backing up your computer, you have some options for where you will store your back up.

• Keep your files in the cloud. This is the best option and if you save your backup on OneDrive, Microsoft’s free cloud storage, they’ll be secure, and you can access them on any device you use, like your PC, tablet, or phone.  Back up your files on your computer. Follow the steps below to save your emails to this computer, you can always move them to another device later, but you will need to back them up here first.

  1. On the Help & Settings menu at the top of the screen, click Settings.
  2. Click Change your e-mail settings.
  3. Click Import or export e-mail, copy e-mail, or import contacts.
  4. Click Copy e-mail.
  5. In the MSN copy email dialog box, click Next.
  6. Select the option to Save your MSN e-mail stored on this computer, and then click Next.
  7. The dialog box will show the default location where your email will be saved (C:\Documents and Settings\ [user name] \My Documents), click Next, and then click Done.
  8. If you want to store this backup on another computer, you will need to use an external device like a thumb drive.

Back up select emails

  1. Go to the Desktop on your computer; right click a blank area, select New, and then click Folder.
  2. Type Saved emails as the name of the new folder, and then click Enter.
  3. In the MSN Explorer (‘Butterfly’), click the Mail & More icon at the top of the page.
  4. Resize the MSN window so that you can see the Saved email folder on your desktop. For help resizing your window, see Working with windows
  5. Select the check box next to each message that you want to save, and then drag the messages to the Saved email folder on your desktop.
  6. Open the folder on your desktop to confirm that the messages are there.

Restore all of your email

  1. On the Help & Settings icon at the top of the screen, click Settings.
  2. Click Change your e-mail settings.
  3. Click Import or export e-mail, copy e-mail, or import contacts.
  4. Click Copy e-mail and click Next.
  5. Select the option to Open your saved MSN e-mail, and then click Next.
  6. The dialog box will show the default location where your email is saved (C:\Documents and Settings\ [user name] \My Documents), click Next, and then click Done.

 Restore select emails

With these steps, we will help you to restore emails that you have previously backed up onto a folder on your desk top.

  1. In the MSN Explorer (‘Butterfly’), click the Mail & More icon at the top of the screen.
  2. Open the MSN folder you want to restore your email to or create a new folder by right-clicking on the Folders on MSN and selecting New Folder.
  3. Resize the MSN window so that you can see the Saved email folder on your desktop. For help resizing your window, see Working with windows
  4. On your desktop, double-click the Saved email folder to open it.
  5. Drag the email messages you want to restore from the Saved email folder to the MSN mail folder you opened in step 2.
